Shawnry Baker
Shawnry graduated in 2006 from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor degree in Communication Disorders and received his Master's in 2008. He was awarded "Student Teacher of the Year" by VSU Communication Disorders Faculty in the Spring of 2008. He has been employed with the Lowndes County School System (PreK-5) since 2008 and 'More Than Words' Pediatric Therapy Associates since 2009. His professional experience includes assessing and providing formal speech and language therapy services to individuals with deficits in the areas of articulation, phonology, language, pragmatics, fluency, autism spectrum disorders, dysphagia, apraxia, and oral motor disorders. Mr. Baker has been trained in Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS) and Seeing Stars. The LiPS program provides specific instruction for individuals with weak phonemic awareness skills through the use of motor kinesthetic feedback. Seeing Stars is a sequential program of instruction that helps establish phonemic awareness and assists in the development of sight words and spelling. Mr. Baker enjoys working closely with parents to provide necessary treatment strategies that facilitate improvement and carry-over of appropriate communication skills into the child's daily routine.
